Nondestructive radiometric determination of bromine in some pharmaceutical products

Abstract: A radiometric method based on the reflection of β-radiation, for a rapid detn. of Br in bromisoval (α-bromoisovalerylurea), bromadal (α-bromodiethylacetylurea) and veralgin (contg. bromisoval and an inorg. compd. formed with elements of a low at. no.) was described. In the app., the source of the radiation was 90Sr and the intensity of the reflected β-radiation was measured by a Geiger-Mueller tube. The detn. is made possible by a relatively great difference between the high at. no. of Br and low at. nos. of other components in the prepns. As compared with the argentometric titration method, the radiometric method showed a max. error 1.89%.
