Abstract: cf. CA 58, 5038f. F was detd. in NaF, MgF2, CAF2, AlF3, and Na3AlF6 by the pyrohydrolytic method. TiO2 was a more effective activator in most cases than Al2O3. The optimum hydrolysis temp. and time in min. for the individual fluorides (with TiO2) was: NaF (anal.) 1000°, 30; MgF2 (pure) 1000°, 33; CaF2 (pure) 900-1200°, 105-24; AlF3 (techn.) 1100°, 63; AlF3 (sublimed) 900°, 36; Na3AlF6 (techn.) 1000°, 24; Na3AlF6 (pure) 1000°, 31.
