A multitube photoelectric adapter for flame photometry making possible corrections of the background, the intensity of which depends on the wavelength

Abstract: A multitube photoelec. adapter attached to a triprism glass spectrograph (ISP-51 with camera F270) and suitable for recording flame spectra was described. A drum of the spectrograph controlling the movement of the prisms is rotated by a motor so that the light from a narrow spectral area in the vicinity of the corresponding spectral line passes gradually through an exit slit. The current from the photomultipliers is recorded with an oscillograph. The recording makes possible the proper correction for a continuous background which changes with wavelength. If the intensity of two or more spectral lines is recorded, it is possible to apply the method to an internal standard with an increase in the reproducibility of the results.
