Identification of antibiotic S-82

Abstract: By comparing authentic samples of known antibiotics from molds by paper chromatographic methods ('summarized chromatogram' and salting-out paper chromatogram), the antibiotic described previously as 'S-82' was identified as glioxin. The chromatographic identification was confirmed by infrared spectroscopy.
