Hemoglobin. VI. The number and termination of polypeptide chains of cat hemoglobin

Abstract: cf. CA 55, 18854e. By chromatographic analysis of the acid hydrolyzate of the dinitrophenylglobin (Sanger, CA 40, 53993) and by the phenylthiohydantoin method (Sj.ovrddot.oquist, CA 47, 6822c), glycine, methionine, and valine were found to be N-terminal amino acids of the cat hemoglobin (I). NH₂-valylleucyl was detd. as the N-terminal sequence of the α-chain of I.
