Hemoglobin. XI. Study of the order around arginine and lysine in the molecule of sheep and beef hemoglobin

Abstract: cf. CA 55, 22524i.-A detn. of bonds on the carboxyl end of arginine and lysine in the polypeptide chain of sheep and beef hemoglobin with tryptic hydrolysis of unsubstituted and 2,4dinitrofluorobenzene-substituted globins was made. It was detd. by chromatographic analyses that there is no qual. difference in bonds on these basic amino acids between sheep and beef hemoglobin. On carboxyl end of arginine and lysine of sheep and beef hemoglobin are bound: glycine, alanine, valine, leucine, serine, threonine, phenylalanine, tyrosine, aspartic acid, glutamic acid, lysine.
