Spectrophotometric determination of allyl chloride

Abstract: A new selective microdetn. of allyl chloride is described, in which Pr, propenyl, and vinyl groups do not interfere. To 4 ml. soln. (0.1 g. phloroglucinol dissolved in 10 ml. 95% EtOH and dild. to 100 ml. with 37% HCl) is added 1 ml. of alc. allyl chloride, and, after 40 min., the absorbance is measured at 520 m and compared with the blank. The concn. of allyl chloride is calcd. from a calibration curve. The sensitivity is 50 γ. Jan Micka
