Determination of iso.ovrddot.oleic acid during hydrogenation of sunflower-seed oil by paper chromatography. I. Optical evaluation by microphotometer

Abstract: A method for the detn. of the iso.ovrddot.oleic acid (I) by paper chromatography followed by a quant. optical evaluation by microphotometer is described and used to study hydrogenation of sunflowerseed oil. Because other acids are simultaneously detd. and can be followed during hydrogenation, this method is better than detg. iso.ovrddot.oleic acid alone as in the Twitchell Pb salt method. Errors in measurement are ±4.3%.
