Abstract: The effect of structural changes at the chosen group on the synergistic insecticidal value was studied. By diene synthesis of butadiene or of chloroprene with corresponding N-alkylmaleimides the following were prepd.: N-methyl-, m. 67°, N-ethyl-, b10 128°, N-isopropyl-, m. 26°, b11 67°, N-allyl-, b12 134°, and N-phenyl-4-cyclohexene-1,2-dicarboximide, m. 115°, and N-methyl-, m. 61°, N-ethyl-, m. 113-15°, b0.75 95°, N-isopropyl-, m. 85°, N-allyl-, m. 33°, b14 193°, and N-phenyl-4-chloro-4-cyclohexene-1,2-dicarboximide, m. 101°. These compds., compared with analog compds. with an endomethylene bridge, prepd. from cyclopentadiene, are 1/2 as effective as synergistic insecticides in the mixt. with pyrethrum on Musca domestica. They are 30-40% less effective than the compds. with an endoxo bridge prepd. from furan, and about the same as the compds. with an endoethylene bridge prepd from cyclohexadiene.
