The effect of aluminum ions on the crystallization of α-FeOOH

Abstract: Aging of pure α Fe⁺⁺⁺ hydroxides was studied. A very important role in the formation of α-FeOOH from amorphous Fe(OH)₃ is the time before aging and pH of the aging soln. With the knowledge so gained the crystn. of α-FeOOH in the presence of Al⁺⁺⁺ was studied. The relation of crystn. of α-FeOOH to the amt. of Al was detd. by use of x-rays.
