The synthesis of some compds. structurally related to calycotomine is described: 1,6,7-HOCH₂(HO)(MeO), 1,6,7-HOCH₂(MeO)(HO), 1,6,7-HOCH₂(CH₂O₂), 1,6,7-[MeCH(OH)](MeO₂)₂, 1,6,7-[EtCH(OH)](MeO)₂, and 1,6,7-[MeCH(OH)](CH₂O₂) derivs. of 1,2,3,4-tetrahydroisoquinoline, 2-(hydroxymethyl)tetrahydro-β-carboline and the 1,6,7-(HOCH₂CH₂)(MeO)₂ deriv. of 1,2,3,4-tetrahydroisoquinoline (homocalycotomine), m. 105-6° (Et₂O); HCl salt m. 196-8° (MeOHEt₂O); picrate m. 153-5° (EtOH); 0.5H₂PtCl₆ salt m. 166-8° (EtOH-acetone).
