Bentonite from Kuzmice (Slovakia) as a hydrophilic base for salves

Abstract: By mixing bentonite with hexadecyl alc., yellow wax and liquid paraffin at 70° a complex hydrophilic emulsifier is prepd. which with the addn. of 52.50% H₂O can be applied as a base for salves. Bacteriol. detn. of liberation of chloramphenicol from 1.0% chloramphenicol salves indicated that it is very effective.
