Abstract: O has an inhibiting and retarding effect on oxo synthesis and decreases the conversion of olefins to aldehydes. With 0.124% Co, calcd. on the wt. of C6-C7 olefins and at 0.1% vol. O in the gas, the conversion is decreased by 50% and at 0.4% the oxo synthesis does not occur. By increasing the amt. of Co, the reaction speed and the conversion show linear increases. The optimum amt. of catalyst is detd. by the purity of the raw materials. The purer they are the faster the oxo synthesis, the greater the conversion, and the less catalyst needed.
