Polymerization of tetrasubstituted allylmethylsilanes. II. The mechanism of radical polymerization of allyltrimethylsilane

Abstract: cf. C.A. 52, 9028b. A method for the detn. of tert-BuOH (I) in the polymerization system is described. It was proven that at the polymerization of CH₂:CHCH₂SiMe₃ (II) at 140° there is a side reaction with the formation of I which participates on the av. to the extent of 24.6% of the total conversion. The mechanism of radical polymerization of II is discussed. The calcd. kinetic relations are in agreement with the exptl. results.
