The preparation of higher dialkyldithiophosphoric acids by transesterification of dimethyl- and diethyldithiophosphoric acids

Abstract: Dialkyldithiophosphoric acids were prepd. by transesterification of dimethyl- or diethyldithiophosphoric acid with alcs. of higher b.p. according to the reaction: 2ROH + (R'O)2P(S)SH → (RO)2P(S)SH + 2R'OH. R' is Me or Et and R is Pr, iso-Pr, Bu, iso-Bu, n-octyl, lauryl, and cyclohexyl. From O,O'di-methyldithiophosphoric acid, O,O'-dipropyldithiophosphoric acid, b. 87-9° nD20 1.4998, d20 1.1209, and O,O'-diisopropyldithiophosphoric acid, b3 70.5-71.5°, nD20 1.4920, d20 1.0913, were prepd. From O,O'-diethyldithiophosphoric acid, O,O',-dibutyldithiophosphoric acid, nD20 1.4861, d20 1.1348, and O,O'-dilauryldithiophosphoric acid, nD20 1.4782, d20 0.94672, were prepd.
