Polarographic determination of O,O-diethyl O-(4-methyl-7-coumarinyl) thiophosphate

Abstract: A polarographic method was developed to det. O,O-diethyl O-(4-methyl-7-coumarinyl) thiophosphate (Potasan, E 838, a selective insecticide from G. Schrader's lab.) and its analog O,O-dimethyl O-(4-methyl-7-coumarinyl) thiophosphate in the presence of polarographic active components 4-methyl-7-hydroxycoumarin, O,O-diethyl chlorothiophosphate, and O-ethyl O,O-bis(4-methyl-7-coumarinyl) thiophosphate in the tech. pure product. Polarographic detns. were made on these pure compds. and from this a method was developed for tech. products. In a tech. product the half-wave potential -1.5 v. found in neutral soln., belonged to the product of esterification of O,O-diethyl chlorothiophosphate with EtOH (HCl).
