Abstract: The Evans (C.A. 23, 5432) method was modified as follows: The As3+ and As5+ compds. dissolved in 6N HCl are reduced to elementary As by NaH2PO2.H2O which after isolation and washing is dissolved in boiling concd. H2SO4. As3+ is titrated in a hot acid soln., according to Gy.ovrddot.ory (Vinokurova, Z. anal. Chem. 32, 415(1893)), with 0.1N KBrO3 and methyl orange indicator. On this basis methods for the anal. of alloys of As, Sb, and Sn, of white metal (As, Sb, Sn, Cu, Ni, and Pb) and of Sb2S3 ore (As, Sb, Fe, Al, Cu, and S) were developed. For anal. the alloy or ore is decompd. by heating with concd. H2SO4. This method also can be used in the presence of SeIV and TeIV.
