Application of ion exchange in isolation of opium alkaloids

Abstract: Expts. are described showing the isolation by ion exchange of opium alkaloids (I) from water exts. (contg. 0.3 to 0.4% of I) of dry poppy seeds contg. 4.28% morphine. Purity of I was increased from 82.5 to 93.4%.
