Polarographic determination of substituted phenyl methyl ketones. II

Abstract: cf. C.A. 46, 3459h. By boiling Ac2O in great excess of tropine and cocaine, derivs. of phenyl methyl ketones (I) are formed which can be detd. polarographically in acetate buffer soln. at pH 4.2. The polarographic activity of I is caused by substitution on the benzene ring but the tropine ring does not participate in the reaction. About 0.5 mg. of the material can be detd. polarographically.
