The preparation of adipic acid

Abstract: The yield of (CH₂CH₂CO₂H)₂ by oxidation of cyclohexanol with HNO₃ was increased from 72 to 82% by using more NH₄VO₃ (catalyst) and HNO₃. This method is equal to that with KMnO₄ and it requires a much shorter time.
