Extraction of Barium with Bis[Undecahydro-7,8-dicarbaundecaborato(2-)]cobaltate(l-) in the Presence of 18-Crown-6

Abstract: Extraction of microamounts of barium with a nitrobenzene solution of cesium bis[undecahydro-7,8-dicarbaundecaborato(2-)]cobaltate(1-) (abbr. Cs⁺B^-) in the presence of 18-crown-6 (18C6, L) has been investigated. The equilibrium data have been explained assuming that the complexes CsL⁺, CsL²⁺, BaL₂⁺, and BaL₂²⁺ are extracted into the organic phase. The values of extraction and stability constants of the species in nitrobenzene saturated with water have been determined.
