2-(benzoxazol-2-yl)-3-heteroarylprop-2-enenitriles

Abstract: A series of (E)-2-(benzoxazol-2-yl)-3-(5-R-2-heteroaryl)prop-2-enenitriles was prepared by reacting 2-benzoxazolylacetonitrile with 5-R-furan-2-carbaldehyde (R = H, CH3, N(CH3)(2), N(C2H5)(2), Cl, Br, I, CO2CH3, C6H5, OC6H5, SC6H5, SO2C6H5, NO2) or 5-R-thiophene-2-carbaldehyde (R = H, NO2). IR, UV, H-1, C-13 NMR, and mass spectra of compounds synthesized are presented.
