Base as a Selectivity Agent of Palladium Catalysts in Hydrogenation of 3,7-Dimethyl-6-octen-1-yn-3-ol

Abstract: The hydrogenation of 3,7-dimethyl-6-octen-1-yn-3-ol was studied at temperature 60°C and pressure 0.34 MPa using palladium on calcium carbonate catalysts. The presence of strong base inhibited the consecutive reaction of the desirable hydrogenation product 3,7-dimethyl-1,6-octadien-3-ol.
