Synthesis and herbicidal activity of 6-(aryloxy-R¹-amido)-2-R²-thiobenzothiazoles

Abstract: 6-(Aryloxy-R¹-amido)-2-R²-thiobenzothiazoles (R¹ = CH₂, CHCH₃, R² = alkyl C₁-C₈, cyclopentyl, benzyl) were synthesized by the reaction of aryloxyethanoyl or 2-aryloxypropanoyl chlorides with 2-R²-thio-6-aminobenzothiazoles in the medium of tetrahydrofuran and dimethylformamide in the presence of a tertiary base. Some of prepared compounds highly inhibited the growth of tested plants.
