Abstract: Infrared laser homogeneous heating of monosilane SiH4—methyl methacrylate (MMA) mixtures results in the formation of gaseous methane,
acetylene, butenes, and carbon monooxide along with solid silicone polymer. Mechanism of this reaction is assumed to be initiated by the dissociation of silane into silylene and the addition of the latter to MMA. The results
resemble those obtained when the reaction between SiH4 and MMA is
induced via multiphoton decomposition of silane.
