Synthesis and antimicrobial activity of 2-(alkylthio)-6-(bicyclo[2.2.1]hept-5-ene-2,3-dicarboximidomethylamino)benzothiazoles

Abstract: The title compds. I (R = alkyl) were prepd. by Mannich reaction of bicyclo[2.2.1]hept-5-en-2,3-dicarboximide and 2-alkylthio-6-aminobenzothiazoles and tested for antimycobacterial activity against tuberculosis mycobacteria and for antiviral activity. The antimycobacterial activity of the synthesized compds. was evidently lower than that of the starting 2-alkylthio-6-aminobenzothiazoles and 2-alkylthio-6-(bicyclo[2.2.1]hept-5-en-2,3-dicarboximido)benzothiazoles.
