Absorption spectra of some dioxovanadium(V) ions in aqueous solutions

Abstract:  The electronic spectra of aqueous vanadium(V) solutions containing the aqua ions [VO₂(H₂O)_x]⁺, the ions [VO₂(C₂O₄)₂]^3-, and the metavanadate(V) ions V₃O₉^3- were studied at 20°C and at the ionic strength I_c = 1.0. All the studied spectra exhibited the same spectral transitions at 29 800 — 30 100, 35 900-36 200, 42 300-43 000, and 47 700-48 200 cm^-1 . I n spite of the supposed change of the vanadium coordination, no substantial change in the character of the electronic spectra of the group VO₂ has been observed.
