Reactions of 5,6-dihydro-4,7-dithia-1,3-indandione with aldehydes and ketones

Abstract:  5,6-Dihydro-4,7-dithia-1,3-indandione reacted with aromatic aldehydes in the molar ratio 1 1 yielding 2-arylmethylene-5,6-dihydro-4,7-dithia-1,3-indandione and with acetaldehyde in the ratio 2 : 1 giving 2,2'-ethylidenedi(5,6-dihydro-4,7-dithia-1,3-indandione); with acetone, butanone, cyclopentanone, and cyclohexanone it reacted in a similar way as with the aromatic aldehydes.
