Intramolecular hydrogen bond in alkylene- and thiodiphenols

Abstract:  The region of the hydroxyl stretching frequences in alkylene- and thiodiphenols was investigated. The concentration dependence of the wavenumbers and of the molar extinction coefficients was taken as the basis for the identification of the type of hydrogen bond in the individual molecules. The results are discussed from the point of view of the presence of the individual conformational forms.
