Isothiocyanates. XXXIV. Polarography of some isothiocyanates

Abstract: The polarog. redn. was studied of the 3 series of isothiocyanates contg. N:N, CO, COO, and OCO groups, in dependence on the pH of Britton-Robinson buffers. In these systems also the influence of substituents on the shift of the half-wave potential of the -NCS group was investigated. In all series studied there were found rectilinear correlations between E_1/2 and Hammett σ consts. Using the slopes of the Hammett correlations, the coeffs. were calcd. of the electron-transfer effects for each group.
