Optical Rotatory Dispersion Studies. V. Glycals of Monosaccharides

Abstract: Optical rotatory dispersion of D-arabinal, D-xylal, D-glucal, D-galactal, ethyl-α-φ -D-glucal, their per-0-acetyl derivatives and L-arabinal has been investigated. The first extrema of the Cotton effects of  π-π* transitions have been found and are discussed in this paper. The spectra of circular dichroism of some of the glycals are also evaluated.
