Isothiocyanates XCII. Synthesis of some substituted arylalkylthioureas

Abstract: The synthesis of the group of 19 — from this number 13 so far not reported — p-substituted N-phenyl-N'-alkylthioureas is presented. The substituent on the benzene nucleus is methyl, methoxy, ethoxy, dimethylamino, acetamino, carboxyl, chlorine,  and iodine, respectively, while the alkyl is represented by ethyl, isopropyl, or cyclohexyl rest. The compounds were synthetised by the reaction of the corresponding p-substituted phenyl-isothiocyanate with alkyl or cycloalkylamine. The infra-red spectra of the reported disubstituted thioureas are discussed.
