An application of graphite electrode as an indicator in potentiometric titrations of weak bases in anhydrous acetic acid

Abstract: A graphite electrode was applied as an indicator in potentiometric titrations in anhyd. AcOH. Three min. before each titration the electrode was activated by immersing into aq. N KMnO₄ in N H₂SO₄. The electrode was tested by titrations of K acidphthalate, AcONa, triethanolamine, aminoacetic acid, diethylaniline, 8-quinolinol, pyridine, sulfanilamide, α-naphthylamine, and isonicotinylhydrazide. The graphite electrode is equally good as glass electrode, but the graphite electrode has a small inner resistance, good mech. wearing, durability, and simplicity.
