Electrodeposition of Molybdenum from Molten Salts

Abstract: Electrolytic preparation of molybdenum coatings has been investigated in molten NaCl-KCl, KF, and KF-B₂O₃ electrolytes containing Na₂MoO₄ as the electrochemically active component. Molybdenum can be successfully electrodeposited from the molten mixture KF-B₂O₃-Na₂MoO₄ in the form of coherent layers on different electrically conductive substrates. The thickness of the layer depends on the temperature and current density used for deposition.
