Abstract: The effect of 9 wetting agents (I) on the production of penicillin V by Penicillium chrysogenum, under lab. conditions was studied. I can be divided into 3 groups according to the effects observed. The 1st group, sulfonated Bu oleate (Synferol AH), Na dibutylnaphthalenesulfonate (Neokal PR), sulfonated soybean oil (Sulfosol), and Na salts in H2O-sol. sulfonic acids (Dubosol E) had a stimulating effect on the production of penicillin V. The 2nd group, condensation product of amino derivs, of alk. hydrolysis of protein and fatty acids (Retardon A), cetyl sulfate (Syntapon CP), and Na hexadecanesulfonate (Tergitol) had no effect. The 3rd group, a condensate of ethylene oxide with oleyl alc. (Slovasol O) and sulfonated ricinolein (Sulfopol SE 80) had an inhibitory effect.
