Acetylation of 2-Acyl-1,3-indandiones with Ketene and Determination of the Structure of Products

Abstract: Acetylation of 2-acyl-1,3-indandiones with ketene was performed. There was found regioselective and quantitative O-acetylation, with formation of the corresponding 2-(1-acetoxyalkylidene)-1,3-indandiones. The structure of products was determined on the basis of data gained from ¹H and ¹³C  NMR spectra.
