Chromatographic-separation of 3-substituted and 4-substituted anilines and correlation of their R_m values with chosen physicochemical parameters

Abstract: A procedure for chromatographic separation of 3- and 4-substituted anilines on thin layers of silica gel in various systems has been developed with purpose of their identification and control of their purity. The chro­matographic values R_M both from adsorption and partition chromatogra­ phies were correlated with physicochemical parameters pK_a, σ, and π. The relationship between R_M from partition chromatography and the substituent parameter π has proved to be linear.
