¹H-NMR studies of acid-base properties and conformation of N-alkyl derivatives of aspartic acid

Abstract:  Preparation and properties of N-alkyl derivatives of aspartic acid are described and the ¹H-n.m.r. spectra of these compounds are discussed. The protonization constant of the amine nitrogen and the conformation of the αCH—ßCH₂ fragment in neutral and alkaline solution in D₂O were determined from the ¹H-n.m.r. spectral data. These results were considered when studying the influence of formation of supermolecular associates upon conformation of the fragment under investigation.
