Chemical synthesis of xylotriose (4-O-(4-O-β-D-xylopyranosyl-β-D-xylopyranosyl)-D-xylopyranose)

Abstract: Condensation of penta-O-acetylxylobiosyl bromide with 1,2,3-tri-O-acetyl-β-D-xylopyranose gave octa-O-acetyl-β-xylotriose, and its deacetylation yielded xylotriose. ¹³C-N.M.R. spectrum of octa-O-acetyl-β-xylotriose is compared with spectra of acetates of two other, isomeric, (1→4)-linked D-xylotrioses.
