Preparation of salicylidene-2-iminoacethydroxamic acid and some of its complexes

Abstract:  The preparation of salicylidene-2-iminoacethydroxamic acid and its complexes with Fe(III), Cu(II), and Ni(II) is described. The composition of the isolated complexes is Na[Fe(L)₂]. 3H₂0 or [M(HL)₂] . xH₂0 . The dissociation constants of the reagent, pK_a1 = 9.23, pK_a2= 11.13, were determined via spectrophotometry and the involvement of the donor atoms in the chelation was studied by means of the i.r. spectroscopy.
