Abstract: Epimerization of D-[U-¹⁴C]glucuronic acid catalyzed by molybdate ions offers an equil. mixt. of D-[U-¹⁴C]glucuronic and D-[U-¹⁴C]mannuronic acid in the ratio 5:1 and small amts. of D-[U-¹⁴C]lyxo-5-hexulosonic acid. D-[U-¹⁴C]Glucuronic acid was obtained on hydrolysis of α-[U-¹⁴C]glucan oxidized by NO₂.
