Furan derivatives. CI. Nitration of methyl 2-cyano-3-R-3-(2-furyl)acrylates and some properties of their nitro derivatives

Abstract: Nitration of methyl 2-cyano-3-R-3-(2-furyl)acrylates (R = CH₃ , C₂H₅, n-C₃H₇, i-C₃H₇ , n-C₄H₉ , i-C₄H₉, phenyl, 2-thienyl) and conformational analysis by means of 'H-n.m.r. spectrometry of the formed 5-nitrofuryl derivatives is described. The effect of the substituents upon the biological properties of the substances under investigation is discussed on the basis of antimicrobial tests.
