Abstract: The application of an identification and control design to the continuous laboratory plant is presented. The reason of identification is given by the necessity to design the controller, which provides the suitable tracking of the reference signal described by given temperature profile. Used identification algorithm is based on the least-squares prediction error estimation. As a result of identification the parameters of the linear model of continuous system are estimated. This model is further used for computation of the transfer function of the unknown controller. Since in this case at the beginning no controller is available, the identification must be performed in the open-loop configuration.
