The influence of ionic strength and temperature on kinetics of alkaline hydrolysis of pentaammine(mono-, di-, and trichloroacetato)cobalt(III) ions

Abstract: Kinetics of the alkaline hydrolysis of the complex pentaamminechloroacetatocobalt(III) ions in the dependence on temperature and ionic strength
was examined. From the temperature dependence of the rate constants extrapolated to the zero ionic strength, corresponding values of the thermodynamic
activation parameters were obtained. Results are interpreted under the
assumption that the non-electrostatic component represents a significant
contribution to the total activation energy.
