New complexones. XXX. Potentiometric study of the formation of chelates of N,N-bis(carboxymethyl)-2-aminoalkane acids with rare earth cations

Abstract: Four complexons of the monoamine type, namely D,L-α-alanine-N,N-diacetic, D,L-α-aminobutyric-N,N-diacetic, D,L-norvaline-N,N-diacetic, and D,L-valine-N,N-diacetic acids were studied. From the neutralization curves obtained by direct potentiometric measurements as well as from the measurements of displacement equilibria with 2,2',2''-triaminotriethylamine the stability consts. of complexes with La(III, Ce(III), Pr(III), Nd(III), Sm(III), Gd(III), Tb(III), Dy(III), Er(III), Ho(III), Tm(III), and Yb(III) cations were detd. The cations form complexes with the complexons in the ratio 1:1 and 2:1. The conditions of measurements were: ionic strength 0.10 (KNO3),t=20°C.
