Isothiocyanates and their synthetic constituents. III. Synthesis and structural study of substituted cinnamoyl isothiocyanates

Abstract: This paper deals with the synthesis and infra-red and ultra-violet spectral data of the substituted cinnamoylisothiocyanates. From this study results the linear correlation between v(C = 0),  Δv_1/2(C = 0) and constants  σ. The infra-red and ultra-violet spectral data suggest the appearance of a strong +M-effect of NCS group of studied compounds. The reciprocal influence of the substituents on the position and character of the absorption bands of these compounds is discussed.
