Diels-Alder reactions of alkylcyclopentadienes with acrylic type dienophiles. I. Reactions with acrolein

Abstract: Alkylbicycloheptenecarbaldehydes were synthetized by Diels—Alder reaction. 'The exo- and endo-configuration was attributed to the adducts based upon the evaluation of the retention time. The thermic stability of 1-ethylcyclopentadiene and the isomeric mixture of ethylcyclopentadiene was examined by gas chromatography.
