On furan derivatives. IX. 5-Substituted furfuryl idenaminoethyl derivatives of furan

Abstract: By the condensation of 5-substituted derivatives of 2-furaldehyde with 2-aminomethylfuran and 2-carboethoxy-5-aminomethylfuran, fourteen substances — derivatives of 2-(5-X-furfurylidenaminomethyl)furan and ethyl 5-(5-X-furfurylidenaminomethyl) furancarboxylate were prepared (X = H, CH₃, CI, Br, I, CH₃OOC, N0₂). The condensation was carried out in ether solution with alcoholic potassium hydroxide as catalyst at —20 °C. Yield of the respective crude products was approximately 90 % of the theoretical amount. The infra-red spectra of azomethines thus prepared were subjected to study.
