Abstract: The kinetics were studied for the isotope exchange in the systems [Re2OCl10]4--36Cl-, [Re2O(OH)6(C2O4)2]4- -14C2O42-, and [Re2O(OH)2(C2O4)4]4--14C2O42- to det. the structure of dinuclear Re(IV) compds. with anomalous magnetic properties. The Cl in [Re2OCl10]4- in the trans positions with respect to the Obridge are equiv. The reaction order indicated the exchange to take place by a dissocn. mechanism. An equil. may exist between the mono- and dinuclear complexes. For [Re2O(OH)6(C2O4)2]4-, the exchange of the oxalate groups proceeded slowly with a high activation energy. For [Re2O(OH)2(C2O4)4]4- there was no exchange. Space configurations were proposed for both complexes.
