Abstract: Kinetics of the hydroformylation of propylene in non-hydrogenated, high-boiling products of the reaction with 60-min. discontinuous expts. at 120-80° and 200-45 atm., and with 1:1 CO-H2 in the presence of 0.1% by wt. of Co (as dicobaltoctocarbonyl), was described. The rate equation was given by: log k = 19.285 - 8625.55/T. With increasing temp. (from 160°), the yields of butyraldehydes decrease from 94 to 69% (by wt.) and the yields of butanols increase from 5 to 25% (by wt.). The infrared absorption spectra were given for high boiling products, b20 38-200°.
